Government > Issue Management Process
The Chamber addresses many issues affecting its membership through a formal issue management process:
-
Issue Identification - Issues are first brought to the Chamber's attention through several methods including issue forums, surveys or member input.
-
Issue Assignment - If the issue passes the Test of Significance, it is assigned to an issue coordinator in one of the issue area committees.
-
Issue Task Force - A task force is established from a cross-section of Chamber members who represent varying viewpoints and backgrounds. The issue is analyzed by the task force and a position or proposed action is recommended.
-
Business Advocacy Council Review - The task force presents the issue to the Council (steering committee) for approval, modification or further study by the task force. If approved, the position is forwarded to the Chamber's Executive Committee (a sub-set of the Board of Directors).
-
Executive Committee - May approve the proposed position or modify it before sending it to the full board. It may also send the position back for further study.
-
Board of Directors Action - The full board may approve the position. Once approved, the Board may recommend a level of commitment or action by the Chamber.
