If your son/daughter has been selected to participate in RYL, congratulations!
They are about to enter a program that will impact their future and be presented with new challenges and opportunities for intellectual, creative, social, and personal growth.
They have made the commitment, with the approval of their school officials and you, to attend the seven program sessions and day-long retreat. The sessions are held at various venues throughout the greater Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area once a month. Topics covered include diversity, health, local government, law, economic development, criminal justice, money matters and art. The sessions are held during the school day, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For more information, see the Session Schedule. Students must provide their own transportation. School officials excused these absences when they signed the application but students are responsible for reminding their teachers of their absence and obtaining missing assignments.
If your son/daughter is interested in participating in RYL, they should contact their school RYL administrator. Many schools have their own nomination process so we will be happy to connect you with the appropriate contact for your school. Students are required to complete the online application print
it and obtain approval from their schools. This is normally done in March of the student's sophomore year. We are looking for students who have demonstrated leadership potential, are well-rounded, enjoy community service and area a B student or better. Schools may nominate up to four candidates and we will select at least one from each school.
