Who can apply?
Sophomores who have demonstrated leadership potential, are well-rounded, enjoy community service and are a B student or better may apply. We are not necessarily looking for the very top students but we are striving for a diverse group of students who are interested in developing their leadership skills and learning more about their communities. All applications must be approved by the school principal and parent/guardian.
How do students apply?
The application can be obtained online. Students should fill out the application online, print, and submit to their school for approval.
How many applications may our school submit?
You may submit up to four applications and the RYL Selection committee will review them all. At least one student from each school will be selected; however, there may be times when more than one student from a school is selected to achieve a diverse balance.
When are the applications due?
The application deadline is normally in March. The date is listed on the application.
When will the students and schools be notified of selection?
All applicants and schools will be notified in April. Notification date is listed on the application.
What is the cost?
There is no cost to the school or student. The program is funded through generous sponsors and run by dedicated volunteers.
